An Electrophoretic Study of Nephrotic Sera and Urine
نویسندگان
چکیده
The electrophoretic patterns of the sera and urine of two cases of lipoid nephrosis have been obtained and have been compared with a typical pattern of normal serum. The patterns of the pathological sera deviated widely from the normal, indicating relatively low albumin and high globulin content. The comparison of the patterns of nephrotic sera cleared by centrifugation and by ether extraction shows that a large portion of the beta globulin consisted of a labile lipo-protein. The pattern of the nephrotic urine proteins resembled that of normal serum, with, however, significant differences.

Background Nephrotic syndrome (NS) characterized by a large amounts of protein into urine and a set of indications that include: protein in urine, low blood protein levels, high cholesterol levels, high triglyceride levels, and swelling. Therefore, aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between prognosis of nephrotic syndrome and blood biomarkers level in children of Arak city, I...

متن کاملQuantification of Proteinuria with Urinary Protein to Osmolality Ratios in Children
Background: The ratio of urine protein to urine osmolality has recently been suggested as an accurate method to determine proteinuria. Objective: We studied the correlation of urine protein to urine osmolality ratio with 24-hr urinary protein excretion. Methods: 150 children aged 0.11–17 years admitted to the Department of Pediatric Nephrology were included in this study. Early morning urine s...
متن کاملCalcium and Vitamin D Metabolism in Pediatric Nephrotic Syndrome; An Update on the Existing Literature
Minimal Change Disease (MCD) is the leading cause of childhood Nephrotic Syndrome (NS). Therefore in pediatrics nephrotic syndrome, most children beyond the first year of life will be treated with corticosteroids without an initial biopsy. Children with NS often display a number of calcium homeostasis disturbances causing abnormal bone histology, including hypocalcemia, reduced serum vitamin D...
متن کاملA Review of Electrophoretic Patterns in Disease*
A total of 702 sera, 81 cerebrospinal fluids and 131 urine specimens were studied for the evaluation of a high resolution electrophoresis system, as well as the usefulness of electrophoresis in general. Abnormal changes were found in 41.6 percent of the serum specimens. Meaningful changes of individual fractions were most frequently encountered in the gamma frac tion. In six recognized electro...
